Signing up for WebFaction hosting (again)
Entry updated Feb. 12, 2008 at 12:57 p.m.
UPDATE: It appears that the WebFaction discount is only for those planning to use Rails. Drat.
A few months ago I signed up for Web hosting through WebFaction. This was mainly because I wanted a host for my Django experimentation.
Then I got frustrated with Django and canceled my account (they returned the remainder of my money).
I didn't have any issues with WebFaction however. Their service was above par all the way: superior customer service, optimal hosting for Django and a money-back option for the unsatisfied.
Now they're luring me back with a 50 percent off special for a year's worth of hosting. That and they've expanded their services greatly.
I've decided to give things another go with Django since the book arrived. It feels "real" now.
And as most folks that have used Dreamhost for running Django know, it doesn't quite cut the mustard. In fact, it cuts the cheese.
So I've decided to sign up with WebFaction again. Heck, maybe I can get this blog off Dreamhost and be done with their spotty uptime once-and-for-all.
Folks interested in getting the 50 percent off deal with WebFaction will need to sign up in the next two days.
Let me know if you want any information about running Django on their shared service plan.

Webfaction is truly awesome for Django sites. Great support, a number of "how to do X with Django on Webfaction" tutorials, automatic install for different versions, a choice between mod_python or mod_wsgi, etc. Memory is the only issue I've run against using the super-cheap plans, as 2 or 3 django sites can quickly hit the RAM ceiling. They're helpful about it, though, giving tips to fix the problem and showing much leniency.
@Rodrigo
Indeed it is. I've been riding on WebFaction for a number of months now, and have no regrets.
In fact, I've convinced a number of my friends to sign up as well.
